The story of this piece

Purchased by Raven's Nest from an Estate in 2025. Cameo jewelry and motifs have a rich and long history throughout many cultures, spanning thousands of years and differing materials. In the 17th and 18th centuries especially in Italy, people popularized the use of shells for their ability to carve the colored layers.
